LISTEN TO ME

WATCH ME

With the new year just around the corner, it is often a time when we reflect about the year that we have had and the things that have been happening for us. It is also a time that we start to think about the year to come and what this can hold for us. This year has not been a year we would never have even dreamt about happening, even this time last year not many of us would never have predicted how our lives have been turned on their heads. For many years we have been fortunate enough to not have these levels of insecurities in our lives which has been great. But it’s years like this that can take its toll on all of us and this can mean for some people a real negative impact on their mental health as well. What we all have to accept is that we can’t change what’s happened or in fact what will happen but we can change how we choose to respond in these situations.

We are super lucky in the UK and many of our westernised countries in the world to have the ability to have many choices in our lives. Now is the time to use this ability to choose to end this year positively, finding ways to see things in our lives that have been positive and look for hope for the future. This is so great for our inner minds as it can give our minds and hearts the power of our own inner belief to help us gain the strength, we need in times like this. The pandemic has had a massive negative impact on many areas of our lives and in many ways continues to do so. This is difficult for all of us and we have to first work to support ourselves by taking that time to understand how we are feeling. Often this is the most important step for us to just pause take a breath and think what this year means to us and how this year has impacted us. With this time of reflection, we can gain that greater understanding of who we are and how we can best support our wellbeing. It is not only good to lead by example but it is also vital for us and also the other people in our lives if we can’t help ourselves how can we help others. Sometimes we can think this is a selfish thing to do to put ourselves first at times, but we are not much help to anyone else without our inner strength. The other issue that can come with not supporting ourselves is that we over give and then end up in a place where we have nothing left to give. These breaking points are not recommended for any of us and understanding our limitations is a key way to protect ourselves and our families. But after we have got our supports in place then is the time to spread our help to the people around us.

In these exceptional times in our lives, we all must look to help and support each other, by using our own individual strengths to support the people in our lives. With us being so close to the end of this year it’s time to also think about how we want to positively impact our lives and those around us in the year to come. New Year’s resolutions are a good way to commit to ourselves about moving our lives forward in more positive ways while helping to challenge ourselves in the areas of our lives we want to change. How about this year we end our year with lots of positive reflection on what we do have in our lives and how over the next few months our towns, country and the world overall will be opening back up to life as we know it? With this in mind, a good New Year’s resolution would be to do one good dead a week or commit to volunteer for a few hours, or maybe we make sure we pop in on a neighbour who lives on their own. These things don’t have to be massive, so don’t be put off by our life’s limitations, as even a minute or two, we spend in doing something nice is an amazing thing. Imagine if we all ended this year by committing to do an extra minute a day to support others how much support would this create? We can’t change what other people choose to do but we can choose to be the best versions of ourselves.

Take some time, even if it’s just before you go to sleep to set this firmly in your mind, see you ending this year with this new and positive mindset. This is a good affirmation you can use to help your mind stay in a positive place and you can just repeat it in your head or even out loud just a few times.

Choose to change the things you can and accept the things you can’t.

Take the time then to see this new extra support you choose to give to other, imagine the things you do with that time your committing and just connect to how good this feels not only for the person your helping but for you as well. Seeing is believing so the more you create this positive mindset the stronger your inner drivers will be to help you achieve your goals.

Make the end of this year a new start for positive change for you and the people in your life. Take this time to motivate yourself in these changes and let what you can’t change go, so you can focus on the things you can change.
